Art Lindemanis has been a licensed, and Nationally Certified, massage therapist since 1998. He is also a certified Watsu® and Waterdance practitioner. His primary therapy training has accumulated 1700 hours of education on land and in the water. In addition, Art was also on the teaching staff at New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts for three years, joyfully helping students discover and refine their talents for professional and caring touch.

Currently, Art is using a blend of techniques including Deep Tissue, Accupressure, Cranial-Sacral and Reiki to meet the needs of his patients. While no two Artful Massages are exactly the same, they can be characterized as deep and restful, sensitive and graceful. His intention during a therapy session is to be fully present, using the hands, the mind and the heart to encourage a sense of well-being and peace for all his clients.

Overall Benefits of Massage and Bodywork:
1) Increases blood supply and nutrition to muscles, tendons and vital organs.
2) Stimulates lymph circulation, hastens the elimination of metabolic wastes and promotes a healthy immune system.
3) Effectively interrupts the pain cycle by relaxing tight muscles and easing muscle cramps and knots.
4) Improves muscle tone and increases flexibility in the joints.
5) Encourages deeper and more restful sleep cycles.
6) Reduces stress and tension.
7) Relieves pain from migraines and headaches, decreases the need for medication.
8) Stimulates the production of endorphins, the body's natural pain killer and a vital aspect of recovering from injury or surgery.

Watsu®

Watsu® is a relatively new type of therapeutic massage, created and refined over the past two decades. It's working medium is a pool of warm water, approximately skin temperature (96º), and it combines the overall benefits of massage and stretching with the relaxing and supportive nature of warm water. In this place where gravity and weight become suspended, long standing patterns of physical tension and stress can dissolve quickly and with ease.

In addition to the remarkable physical benefits of Watsu®, the act of being gracefully moved and held in warm water can lead to deep emotional and spiritual experiences. It is often said by patients that they felt very connected to being in a peaceful, womb-like state and were delighted to be born into a fresh new world with less pain, and more pleasure, than before.
Waterdance

Waterdance is another, fairly recent, development in the field of aquatic bodywork therapy. In this modality, the patient is given nose clips after being massaged and stretched in the water. The receiver is then gradually and gently brought under water during an exhale of the breath. The patient returns to the surface, gathers more air during a few breaths, and is again slowly lead underwater while beingslowly danced around the pool.

Both the giver and receiver must be totally in tune with the breath, which is an awareness that's been the cornerstone of meditation practices for thousands of years. The patient is given a 360º experience of their body while being supported, guided, and encouraged by the therapist. The vision and experience of letting oneself be totally carried and moved by water is a freedom and euphoria worth discovering.

Depending on both giver and receiver, aquatic bodywork might be experienced as slow or quick, easy or intense, dark or light. Any given session can be tender, vigorous, gentle, fun, exhilarating, quiet, or joyful...maybe all within the same treatment!!!

If you've ever enjoyed soaking in warm water, practicing yoga, dancing, or watching people dance, I am sure you will love Waterdance and Watsu®.

While waiting for a warm water pool to open in Downeast Maine, Art's water therapy career is on stand-by. He highly recommends asking someone at one of the following web sites if there is a water therapist in your neighborhood.
